  • find out how he/she helped expand people's rights and freedoms
  • make connections to the Runagate Runagate poem

If you are unable to answer all your questions used the search engines on our website or use our Library system. Then go on to step 2 at the bottom of the page.

2. Now that you have learned how your person helped expand people's rights and freedoms, you get to share what you learned with the class!

  • First, create a timeline to show the life of your freedom fighter. Use the directions and checklist to help you. You should insert the timeline in your presentation.

  • Next, choose any of the following types of presentations.

*PowerPoint slide show

*Write an interview/do a newscast

*Create a Reader's Theatre/play to show to the class

*Write a story. You may use Storybook Weaver or other software program.

*Create a song for you to sing to the class demonstrating what you have learned.

*Create a Photo Story.

*Publish final draft of writing assignment on an approved online site.

*Your group may come up with an original idea but must have the teacher’s approval.

Use the Rubric to help make your presentation the best it can be.

Your goal is to create a presentation that:

  • describes who the freedom fighter was, including a timeline of his/her life, what they fought for, and what happened for people as a result
  • uses a combination of font, colors, pictures, sound, and/or animation to increase the understanding but does not overpower the message of who the freedom fighter was
  • the presentation should also have a clear beginning, middle, end and is free of spelling and grammar mistakes

You will be sharing your work with the class. You may also choose to have it posted on our classwebsite for your family.

  • Finally, as a class we will create a list of "key characteristics" for being a freedom fighter. What do these people have in common that made them a freedom fighter? Mrs. Clinton, with help from individuals, will create a Photo Story to show these common characteristics for our class and the class website.
